I am a bit of an inspiration junkie….
I love quotes and words…
I love stories and I love people….
And so on this second day of January, I being to wonder what or who will inspire me in 2014?
I want to blog regularly about stories of inspiration.
People who live ordinary lives and yet invite us to consider something new.
When I thought of inspiring I thought of this very honest girl who wrote the following words. She is just days away from her 17th birthday. She is a deep thinker and she has experienced great joy and deep sorrow. Olivia Grace, you are an inspiration and I thank God for you!
Grief is a difficult journey and yet it grows us all in our faith. I do not have words for how proud I am of Olivia in how she walks this journey. Just a few days before her 16th birthday her Dad died in a car accident. She has struggled deeply in this last year and is even more assured that Christ is her anchor. I love you livi lou!♥
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Ephesians 6:1
I’m so thankful to have had such a man to call my dad. He was a sweet mess, consistently cried at family gatherings just because he loved us all together so much. He taught me the importance of family and loyalty, of devoting your life to Christ and of seeing the adventure in mishaps like burnt dinner or a flat tire on the side of the highway. I was a shy kid and every morning he would tell me “get in trouble today”. It was his first instinct to go against the grain of society. He taught us to be bold and stick together as siblings, he taught us table manners and the importance of education. He taught me that it’s okay to cry but he also taught me to be “tougher than a bag of nails”. I love my daddy so much. I’m so so so thankful for our almost 16 years together. I couldn’t have dreamed of a better childhood.
And so, this almost 17-year-old beautiful girl, strong athlete, oldest sibling and grieving teen offers us these words of inspiration. I wonder how these words of invitation and inspiration apply to where you are today?
