It’s not like it used to be…

Tonight I was going to jump on my counter to get something off a high shelf….

43I quickly remembered, it is not like it used to be…(need to remember to buy that step stool)

Tonight I was trying to read something from my phone….

I quickly remembered it is not what it used to be….(can’t forget to put my reader’s on my head so they are always with me)

Tonight I was going to quick run upstairs and I felt the pain of my Achilles tendon….

I quickly remembered it is not what it used to be….(need to remember to take my Motrin regularly)

But then I remember how my heart is more tender, my body more healthy and my skin more comfortable to live in….

I quickly remember how good life is…

I am turning 43 this weekend and although there are certainly places I feel my age, there are many more where I feel aging has improved the person I am today. I am thankful forh the experiences and people in my teens, 20’s and 30’s who have helped to shape my 40’s. I look forward to all life has for me in the days, weeks, months and years ahead. I believe that God will honor the desires of my heart and show me great and wonderful things….

And, I am quite proud of that fact that I have recently taken up skipping and jumping rope again!

  1. I am proud of you too. I loved this post. The very first time I felt what you are feeling was when I climbed up on my washing machine to get something off of these crazy tall cabinets and I did not feel safe “jumping down” as I had always done in my other house. That was only 10 years ago and since I just turned 76 last month I must have been 66! However, I was working out and trying to maintain a reasonable weight thus I think I was unusually blessed for my obedience. Eyes…..now that is altogether different. One morning when I was 40 I got up and tried to read the directions on a can of biscuits and thought I had gone blind overnight!!! I am glad you are not wearing your glasses all the time. Richard refused to wear his except at work. ( I have discovered men to be very vain, tho’ women get blamed for being so…..they are worse! Trust me.) Years later when he did have to wear his all of the time the dr. told me that when you wear glasses all of the time your eyes become dependent upon them and weaken somewhat. Also your eyesight is affected greatly by your overall health! It can improve, get worse, improve,etc..mine has. So anxious to see you and catch up tho I know we will not do that until heaven! So proud of you and want you to know I AM writing……finally. b
